December in Reception

Posted on

We had a visit from the community police officer who talked to us about being safe on the roads and how to cross the road safely. We need to stop, listen, look and think.

We have been busy learning our songs for the Christmas Nativity Play. We are shepherds and have all our costumes ready. We have been on the stage to practice our part in the play.

Yesterday it was our Christmas dinner – we had a lovely time!

Next week will be very busy. We are performing our play on Tuesday, on Wednesday we are going to Kents Cavern for the Santa Show and then on Thursday it is our Christmas party when the children can bring in party clothes to change into if they would like to. We finish school on Friday 18th December and hope that you all have a HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

Thank you for all your contributions for Children in Need on Friday. The children enjoyed dressing up as their heroes and telling the other children about their choice and why they made it.

Last half term the children worked very hard on learning the initial sounds of the alphabet and started blending these together to make words. This half term we will be learning about how two letters together make one sound – digraphs.

Thank you for all your support with reinforcing the phonic work we do in school and helping the children to learn the tricky words we send home. We much appreciate the time you spend reading with your children at home as this has a considerable impact on their progress. Thank you for your support.

In numeracy we are concentrating on recognising numbers up to 20 and counting in different ways.

Christmas is on the horizon and we will be shortly letting you know about what will be happening in school.
